Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a display device and a display method that reproduce a motion parallax and can express a strong sense of realism, without the use of an image display means having a special pixel structure and while inhibiting an increase to the size of the device. An image display device (1) according to the present invention comprises an image display unit (2) that has a stripe structure in which subpixels of a plurality of colors are arranged so subpixels of the same color are aligned in a first direction, and that displays an image composed of pixels, each pixel comprising the subpixels of the plurality of colors, to an observer through a plurality of openings (24). The openings (24) are provided so as not to overlap with each other, and each opening (24) is shaped such that the areas of the subpixels of each of the plurality of colors visible through the opening (24) are equal, and such that the aperture ratio of the opening (24) decreases in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction.
