Provided is a display device having a light detection function. Provided is a highly convenient display device. This display device has a light receiving element and a light emitting element in a display unit. The light receiving element has a first pixel electrode, an active layer, and a common electrode. The light emitting element has a second pixel electrode, a light emitting layer, and a common electrode. The active layer is located on the first pixel electrode. The active layer has a first organic compound. The light emitting layer is located on the second pixel electrode. The light emitting layer has a second organic compound that is different from the first organic compound. The common electrode has a portion overlapping the first pixel electrode with the active layer therebetween and a portion overlapping the second pixel electrode with the light emitting layer therebetween. It is preferable that the display device has a common layer located on the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode. The common layer has a portion overlapping the active layer and a portion overlapping the light emitting layer.
