Provided are a display device to which a light-blocking member can be attached in a short time and a television receiver provided with the display device. The display device is provided with a display panel (10) which displays a video image, a light-guiding plate (60) facing the display panel (10), a frame-shaped cabinet (20) surrounding the light-guiding plate (60) and the display panel (10), and a light source (73) which is disposed within the cabinet (20) in the perimeter of the light-guiding plate (60). The display device is provided with a light-blocking member (50) which is disposed within the cabinet (20) and blocks light to the display panel (10) from the light source (73). Grooves (25) along the circumferential direction of the cabinet (20) are provided on the cabinet (20). The light-blocking member (50) comprises a main body section (51) which extends along the grooves (25), and attachment sections (52) which protrude from a long side portion of the main body section (51) to the cabinet (20) side and attach to the cabinet (20). Claw sections (52a) engaging the grooves (25) are disposed on the protruding end portions of the attachment sections (52), and holes (54) are disposed on portions of the main body section (51) corresponding to the claw sections (52a).
