Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a display device wherein the overlap of a bezel and a panel can be reduced because panel curvature is reduced. The display device of the present invention is a display device (10) that includes a display panel (11) and a housing (15A, 15B) that houses the display panel (11) and has a bezel (15B) that covers the periphery of a surface of the display panel (11). An edge side surface of the display panel (11) is not fixed to the housing (15A, 15B) via an adhesive. The display panel (11) includes a display element and a polarizing plate that is arranged on at least one surface of the display element. The polarizing plate includes a polarizer and an optical film that is arranged upon the polarizer. The ratio (CHE/CTE) of the coefficient of hygroscopic expansion (CHE) of the optical film in a direction (X) that is parallel to the absorption axis of the polarizer over the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the optical film in said direction (X) is 0.7 or less, and in an environment that is at 40˚C and 20% relative humidity, the tensile modulus of the optical film in said direction (X) is 2-6 GPa.
