A display substrate and a display apparatus. The display substrate comprises a base substrate and a display unit. The display unit is arranged on the base substrate; a first electrode of a light-emitting device is connected to a first electrode of a driving transistor; a pixel definition layer defines opening areas of a plurality of sub-pixels; two adjacent sub-pixels are respectively an upper sub-pixel and a lower sub-pixel; a first electrode of the upper sub-pixel is provided with a first edge close to the lower sub-pixel and a second edge, which intersects the first edge of the first electrode; the opening area of the upper sub-pixel is provided with a first edge close to the lower sub-pixel and a second edge, which intersects the first edge of the opening area; and the distance between the first edge of the first electrode of the upper sub-pixel and the first edge of the opening area of the upper sub-pixel is larger than the distance between the second edge of the first electrode of the upper sub-pixel and the second edge of the opening area of the upper sub-pixel.
