Abstract:
Provided is a distal stabilizer that can be excellently engaged with the inner wall of a biological lumen, and can be easily resheathed to a catheter. A distal stabilizer 1 is used to deliver a catheter within a biological lumen, and is provided with: a delivery wire 2; and an engagement stent 3 that extends from the distal end 21 of the delivery wire 2, and can be engaged with the inner wall of a biological lumen due to the self-expanding force thereof. The engagement stent 3 has open cells 41 each having a free protruding end 42 protruding to only the distal side D2. After a catheter delivery operation including advancing catheters including a second catheter 6 having a greater inner diameter than a first catheter 5 to the distal side D2 while the engagement stent 3 stored in a contracted state in the first catheter 5 is released from the first catheter 5 and engaged with the inner wall, the delivery wire 2 is moved backward to the proximal side D1 to remove the distal stabilizer 1 from the biological lumen, so that the engagement stent 3 is contracted and resheathed to any of the catheters 5, 6, 8.
