Title:
DISTANCE CALCULATION DEVICE AND DISTANCE CALCULATION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/132947
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In order to carry out distance measurement at less than the disparity resolving power of a stereo camera, and carry out fine measurement of relative distance to a subject even when conditions for picking up an image have deteriorated, a distance calculation device is provided with a monocular distance calculation unit (203) that calculates the distance to the subject to be measured on the basis of image information picked up by either of two cameras (101, 102), a stereo distance calculation unit (204)that calculates the distance to the subject to be measured on the basis of image information picked up by the two cameras, a blur calculation unit (201) that calculates the amount of blur in the image information picked up by the two cameras, a distance estimation unit (202) that estimates the distance to the subject to be measured at the point of time when the images were picked up by the two cameras, and an output distance calculation unit (206) that calculates an output distance to the subject to be measured. The output distance calculation unit selects, on the basis of the amount of blur and the estimated distance, either the distance calculated by the monocular distance calculation unit or the distance calculated by the stereo distance calculation unit as the output distance.
