Abstract:
Disclosed are a distributed traffic rate limiting method and system. Said method steps comprise: receiving a message; determining whether the current number of tokens is sufficient, and if the number of tokens is sufficient, then forwarding the message; subtracting, from a token bucket, tokens of which the number is the same as the length of the message, so as to obtain the number of remaining tokens; if the number of remaining tokens in the token bucket is less than or equal to a rcir value, then triggering a rate limiting device to send a synchronization message; each rate limiting device receiving the synchronization message, generating a response message by using the value of the number of tokens thereof, and sending same to other rate limiting devices; the rate limiting device receiving the response message, selecting a rate limiting device meeting a condition, and then sending a request message for requesting to exchange the number of tokens; and the selected rate limiting device receiving the request message, and exchanging the number of tokens with the request rate limiting device. In the present invention, a rate limiting device of each node is configured to generate a token, such that no matter which node a message passes through, a token is forwarded, ensuring that the message forwarding delay does not increase.
