Abstract:
A document conveying device comprising: a supplied document detecting sensor (123) which detects a document upon a supply tray (43); a discharge tray (45) which is provided below the supply tray (43); a discharged document detecting sensor (127) which detects the document upon the discharge tray (45); and a raising/lowering mechanism (125) which raises and lowers the supply tray (43) between an upper limit position at which the document is pushed against a feed roller (103) and the feed roller (103) is raised to a prescribed supply height and a lower limit position which is below and apart from the feed roller (103), wherein when it is determined, on the basis of detection results from the supplied document detecting sensor (123), that the document has been removed from the supply tray (43) while the device is in standby, the raising/lowering mechanism (125) lowers the supply tray (43) to a prescribed position in accordance with detection results from the discharged document detecting sensor (127).
