Description:
DOOR STOP ARRANGEMENT

Field of the Invention

The present invention concerns door stop of a type which is disposed between a base and a door leaf in order to prevent closure of the door leaf.

Furthermore, the invention concerns a combination of a door stop and a storage means for an oblong object, for example a cable drum or a drum for a hose.

The invention further concerns a combination of a door stop and a storage means for an oblong object, and a fastening arrangement.

Furthermore, the invention concerns use of a door stop. Background of the Invention

In connection with use of e.g. electric cables and hoses on construction sites where the cables or hoses are passed through a door opening comprising a door leaf hinged in a door frame, there is great risk that the cable or the hose will be pinched between the door leaf and the door frame. For electric cables, this produces a hazard of short- circuiting or electric shock, and for hoses this means outflow of medium in the hose, e.g. water, air, oil or gas.

These risks are unacceptable as they in extreme cases can cause death or serious injury and damage to equipment and building parts.

Moreover, it can be problematic to achieve an even, reliable and rapid winding up of the cable or hose on a drum without the cable or hose forming knots, tangling up or running aside the drum.

Object of the Invention

A purpose of the invention is to indicate means to avoid or at least reduce the problems mentioned above. It is thus an important object of the invention to ensure that work with cables, hoses or similar takes place as safely, easily and reliably as possible, and that cables, hoses or the like are not damaged during the work. Description of the Invention

The above and further objects and advantages are achieved according to a first aspect of the present invention by a kit comprising a door stop of a type which is disposed between a base and a door leaf for preventing closure of the door leaf, wherein the door stop includes a body part with a wire guide in the form of a through-going opening in the body part, and wherein the body part furthermore is formed with an insertion aperture communicating with the wire guide for passage of an oblong object, for example a wire or a hose, through the insertion opening into and out of the wire guide, wherein the kit further comprises a fastening arrangement, and wherein the fastening arrangement is adapted for fastening to a storage means and adapted for releasably receiving the door stop.

Furthermore the above objective is achieved with a door stop of a type which is disposed between a base and a door leaf for preventing closure of the door leaf, wherein the door stop includes a body part with one or more wire guides, the body part further including an insertion opening communicating with the one or more wire guides for inserting an oblong object, for example a wire or a hose, into the opening, whereby one or more of the oblong objects can be inserted in the wire guide and be moved therefrom, respectively, wherein the body part includes fastening means for detachable fastening to a storage means which is adapted for containing and delivering or receiving, respectively the oblong object wherein the fastening means includes a clamping means which is adapted for clamping onto the storage means.

According to a third aspect of the invention, the invention includes a combination of a door stop according to the invention and a storage means for an oblong object wherein the door stop is designed with fastening means which are arranged for detachable fastening to the storage means.

According to a fourth aspect of the invention, the invention includes use of a door stop according to the invention for disposition between a base and a door leaf, and with an oblong object passed through the wire guide. It is a characteristic property of the present invention that the door stop and the storage means are adapted to each other such that the door stop while stored on the storage means for storing a wire, hose or similar is connected to said storage means, and that the door stop functions as a guide for the wire or hose when pulling the wire or hose out. The storage means can be designed with a drum device wherein the door stop forms a wire guide during unwinding and winding, respectively, of the wire or hose from/on the drum device. Besides that the door stop is thereby providing a better and more uniform winding/unwinding, the invention also reduces the risk that the door stop is lost during the work at e.g. a construction site or similar. The invention thus generally facilitates the work and eliminates unnecessary time with finding a lost door stop.

The fastening arrangement can be adapted for fastening to a storage means by including a clamping means for clamping onto the storage means.

The fastening arrangement can be adapted for releasably receiving the door stop by including retaining means for releasably retaining the door stop onto the fastening arrangement. According to a further embodiment, the door stop is peculiar in that the body part includes fastening means for detachable fastening to a storage means which is designed with the object of containing, delivering or receiving, respectively, the oblong object. The door stop is particularly usable in connection with a storage means for a wire or a hose as the wire guide can be used for preventing that the wire or hose tangles up.

According to a further embodiment, the door stop is peculiar in that the fastening means includes a holder member which is designed to grip around and retain the door stop on the storage means.

Hereby is achieved a secure mounting on the storage means. The door stop can, for example, be fastened to part of the frame of a cable drum. The door stop is secured in that the holder member is clamped around the frame. This can e.g. be effected by a combination of a screw and a nut, an eccentric clamping mechanism or a wedge arrangement. The door stop according to the invention is peculiar in that the fastening means includes a clamping means which is designed so as to be clamped on an outer part of the above mentioned storage means.

Hereby is achieved a secure mounting on the storage means. The clamping means can be designed so as to be combined with the holder member or such that it can retain the door stop on the storage means by itself.

According to a further embodiment the storage means is a drum on which the oblong object can be wound or from where the object can be unwound, respectively.

The door stop is particularly suited in connection with drums, e.g. cable drums or hose reel as the wire guide can be used for guiding a wire or a hose during unwinding and winding such that tangling of the wire or the hose is avoided during winding, in particular.

According to a further embodiment, the door stop according to the invention is peculiar in that the body part includes a wedge-shaped section for insertion between a door leaf and a base. Hereby is achieved that the door stop can be wedged between the base and the door leaf such that it will maintain its position and prevent the door leaf from moving.

The slope of the wedge shape will determine how much the door stop will be fixed and how easy it will be to release it. By a relatively small slope, the door stop will be well fixed but difficult to release. By a relatively large slope, the door stop will sit more loosely and thereby be easier to release.

The chosen slope will therefore be a compromise between the two effects. According to a further embodiment, the door stop according to the invention is peculiar in that the body part includes rounded or bevelled edge parts. This will further the passage of the above mentioned oblong object through the wire guide and reduce the risk of damage on the oblong object during passage through the wire guide.

According to a further embodiment, the door stop according to the invention is peculiar in that the opening of the wire guide is formed with an oblong cross-section.

This will facilitate passage of the oblong object through the wire guide.

This embodiment is particularly applicable in embodiments with a storage means in the form of a drum or a hose reel. In such embodiments, the door stop is designed such that the oblong cross-section is in parallel with the rotary axis of the drum. The wire or the hose, respectively, will hereby be more evenly distributed on the drum.

According to a further embodiment, the door stop according to the invention is peculiar in that the door stop is formed by bending of a flat profile.

A simple method of making the wire guide is hereby achieved.

According to a further embodiment, the door stop according to the invention is peculiar in that the body part is made of a substantially stiff material.

Inadvertent squeezing of the oblong object is hereby avoided.

According to a further embodiment, the door stop according to the invention is peculiar in that the body part includes a part made of a resilient material, and wherein the above mentioned wire guide is made of a material that is substantially stiff. The retention of the door stop between a base and a door leaf hereby becomes more certain as the resilient part of the body part can flex and thereby be pushed farther in under the door leaf than otherwise initially would be allowed by the shape of the door stop. At the same time, inadvertent squeezing of the oblong object in the wire guide is avoided.

In a variant of the above embodiment, the body part of the door stop has a shaped which is not wedge-shaped, but with a shape and a nature of the resilient part allowing that the door stop will be sufficiently compressed so that it can be inserted between the base and the door leaf.

The invention furthermore includes a combination of a door stop according to the invention and a storage means in the form of a drum or a hose reel with a frame part, wherein the door stop is designed with fastening means which are arranged for detachable fastening to the storage means.

The invention further comprises a combination of a door stop according to any of claims 2-6 and a storage means for an oblong object, and a fastening arrangement adapted for fastening to the storage means and which is adapted for releasably receiving the door stop.

Hereby is achieved a simple and secure fastening of the door stop to the storage means.

Detailed Description of Embodiments of the Invention

Fig. 1 shows a door stop 1 inserted between a base 3 and a door leaf 5.

The door stop 1 has a body part 7. A wire guide 9 is provided in the body part 7. The wire guide 9 is adapted with a through-going opening and an insertion aperture 11 allowing lateral passage of an oblong object 13, for example a wire (or a hose), through the insertion aperture 11 into and out of the wire guide 9.

On Fig. 1, the oblong object 13 is an electric wire. Alternatively, the oblong object 13 can e.g. be a hose, a cord or a rope.

The door stop 1 enables the oblong object 13 to be passed through a door opening without risking being pinched between the door leaf 5 and the base 3 or the door frame (not shown), respectively. At the same time, the wire guide 9 allows the oblong object 13 to pass through the opening while the oblong object is pulled out to a position of use. The insertion aperture 11 is designed such that it will prevent the oblong object 13 from inadvertently leaving the wire guide 9 through the insertion aperture 11.

In the shown embodiment, the door stop 1 is designed with a body part 7 having a wedge-shaped section which is suited for inserting between the base 3 and the door leaf 5. In the shown embodiment, the opening of the wire guide is formed with an oblong cross-section. The door stop 1 is provided with fastening means 15 for detachable fastening to a storage means 17. The fastening means 15 are designed with a holder member 19 which is shaped such as to correspond to the shape of the storage means 13 at the point where member 19 is fastened to the storage means 13. In the shown embodiment, the storage means 13 is cylindrical, why the holder member 19 corresponds to this shape. The fastening means 15 in the shown embodiment include a clamping device 21 consisting of a screw and a nut which can be tightened whereby the holder member 19 is squeezed around the frame of the storage means.

Fig. 2 shows a detail of the insertion aperture 11 of the door stop. It appears here that the insertion aperture 11 is a slot in the body part 7, forming a passage into and out of the wire guide 9. The slot of the insertion aperture is oblique in relation to a central axis through the wire guide 9. During winding and unwinding, respectively, the oblong object 13 is parallel with the central axis of the wire guide. By the obliquely positioned insertion aperture 11, the oblong object 13 is safeguarded against inadvertent movement through the insertion aperture 11.

The body part 7 is designed with rounded edge parts such that the oblong object 13 is easily guided into the wire guide 9. The wire guide 9 is designed with rounded edge parts in areas which are not close to the insertion aperture 11 such that inadvertent passage/movement of the oblong object out of the wire guide is prevented.

Fig. 3 shows the door stop 1 used in combination with a storage means 17 in the form of a cable drum for an electric wire. A door leaf 5 (see Fig. 1) cannot come in contact with oblong object 13 which is thereby protected by the door stop. Fig. 4 shows the door stop 1 mounted on a storage means 17, here a cable drum with the oblong object 13, in this case a cable, partially through the insertion aperture 11 for passage into or out of the wire guide 9. The body part 7 is formed of a resilient material that enables opening the insertion aperture 11 during passage of the oblong object 13.

Fig. 5 shows the door stop 1 mounted on a storage means 17, here a cable drum, with an oblong object 13, in this case an electric wire, in the wire guide 9. In the typical situation of use, the door stop 1 will optionally be fastened to the storage means 17 during unwinding of the oblong object 13 through a door opening. Before the current is switched on, the door stop 1 is released and placed in the door opening between the base 3 and the door leaf 5 such that the door leaf 5 and the door stop become fixed, for safeguarding against pinching and damage of the oblong object 13.

When the work is ended, the door stop 1 is fastened on the storage means 17, and the oblong object 13 is passed laterally in through the insertion aperture 11 to the wire guide 9, if this has not been effected yet. The oblong object 13 can then easily be wound up on the storage means 17, in this case a drum.

Fig. 6 shows the door stop 1 in a second embodiment where it is formed by bending a flat profile. The material of which the profile is formed has to be a material that can be deformed permanently without mechanical failure. As profile material e.g. iron, steel or aluminium of alloys with good bending properties can be used. Alternatively, a plastic material can be used. Some plastic materials are to be heated during bending.

In the shown embodiment of the door stop 1, it is designed with two 90° bends and a bend with an angle which is less than 45°, preferably less than 30°, more preferred less than 15°, but greater than 5°.

In the shown embodiment, the body part 7 in the door stop 1 is designed with a wire guide 9 having an aperture following the internal shape of the profile. The insertion aperture 11 for the wire guide 9 in the body part 7 is formed between the ends of the profile.

The door stop 1 is furthermore designed with fastening means 15 with a holder member 19 and a clamping device 21 for fastening to the storage means 17.

Fig. 7-9 shows a kit 25 according to the invention. The kit 25 comprises a door stop 1 and a fastening arrangement 23. The fastening arrangement 23 comprises a holder member 19 and a clamping device 21 for fastening the fastening arrangement 23 to the storage means 17 (see fig. 11). The holder member 19 and the clamping device 21 is similar to the one described for the embodiments of the door stop on fig. 1-6. In the kit 25 the fastening arrangement 23 and the door stop 1 are separate items.

The fastening arrangement 23 is adapted for releasably receiving the door stop 1. The fastening arrangement is formed with an open pocket into which the door stop 1 can be inserted. The shape of the pocket corresponds to the shape of the door stop 1, such that the door stop 1 is sufficiently supported by the fastening arrangement 23 to remain firmly attached to the fastening arrangement 23 during winding/unwinding of the oblong object 13 (not shown) through the wire guide 9.

In the embodiment shown in fig. 7-11, the fastening arrangement is formed with a releasable locking means 27 for securing the door stop 1 when inserted in the fastening arrangement 23(see fig. 8-9). The locking means 27 comprise an aperture 29 formed in the door stop and a corresponding protrusion 31 formed in the fastening arrangement 23. When the door stop 1 is inserted into the fastening means 23 the protrusion snaps into the aperture 29 and secures the door stop 1. To release the door stop 1 the fastening means 23 is deformed such that the protrusion 31 becomes free of the aperture 29. Figs. 10-11 show the door stop 1 in combination with a storage means 17 and a fastening arrangement 23.

The fastening arrangement 23 is adapted for fastening to the storage means 17. Furthermore, the fastening arrangement 23 is adapted for releasably receiving the door stop 1.

On Fig. 10, the door stop is used as a wedge between a base 3 and a door leaf 5 such that the door leaf 5 can no longer pinch the oblong object 13 in the form of an electric wire so that it breaks.

On Fig. 11, the door stop 1 is disposed in the fastening arrangement 23 on the storage means 17 such that unwinding and winding of the oblong object 13 is controlled.
