Abstract:
A dozing alert system (1) that is installed in a vehicle to prevent a driver dozing during driving, said dozing alert system comprising: a drowsiness level determination device (9) for determining a level of drowsiness of a driver; a preliminary alert device (10) for carrying out a preliminary alert when the drowsiness level is so high as to exceed an alert threshold value, on the basis of a comparison between the alert threshold value and the drowsiness level determined by the drowsiness level determination device (9); an alert device (10) for carrying out a main alert for arousing a driver from sleepiness, as needed, after the preliminary alert carried out by the preliminary alert device (10); a response detection device (10) for detecting whether the driver has carried out a prescribed response operation within a fixed amount of time after the preliminary alert has been issued by the preliminary alert device (10); and a threshold value changing device (9) for changing the alert threshold value to a higher value when the response operation has been detected by the response detection device (10).
