Abstract:
A gamma correction unit (11) performs gamma correction on input gradation data ranging from 0 to 255, and outputs converted gradation data ranging from 16 to 255, wherein the black levels have been clipped to a value of 16. An overdrive correction unit (12) outputs corrected gradation data ranging from 0 to 255 according to the gradation data for the current frame and the gradation for the previous frame. A liquid crystal panel drive circuit (15) outputs, as a black level voltage, a drive voltage of 1.0 V, which is the voltage (threshold voltage) when a change in the transmittance of a liquid crystal panel (16) arises when the drive voltage is made to rise sufficiently from a low voltage, when a corrected gradation data value is 16, and outputs a voltage lower than 1.0 V when a corrected gradation data value is 15 or less. Response speed can thus be easily increased for gradations near the lowest gradation and the highest gradation.
