Abstract:
In the present invention, a device for driving a permanent magnet synchronous motor comprises: an inverter; a detection means that detects electric current that flows in the permanent magnet synchronous motor; and a control means that controls the permanent magnet synchronous motor via the inverter, using an electric current value that is detected by the detection means. The control means performs a calculation for estimating the position of the rotor of the permanent magnet synchronous motor, on the basis of electric current that is generated by applying to the permanent magnet synchronous motor at predetermined phase intervals a second polyphase alternating current of a higher frequency than a first polyphase alternating current for rotatably driving the permanent magnet synchronous motor.
