A self-propelled drive unit for moving aircraft on the ground, with a receiving region for receiving at least one wheel unit, which can be rotated about a wheel axis, of a nose wheel unit of an aircraft to be moved, and with an automatically adjustable towing cylinder with a releasably fastened towing head, wherein the towing cylinder is set up to interact with a towing head which is configured for coupling to a towing fitting of the wheel unit which is received in the receiving region, in such a way that the aircraft to be moved can be towed or pushed by way of the self-propelled drive unit by means of the towing cylinder, wherein the self-propelled drive unit can be in a dynamic operative network with a friction roller drive which loads the wheel unit of the nose wheel unit.
