Abstract:
Provided is a droplet sensor having a wide detection surface area and high sensitivity with a simple configuration. This droplet sensor has: an optical cover having a curved surface that forms a portion of a revolving ellipsoid; a light source disposed at a first focal position of the ellipse and facing the curved surface; and a light detector disposed at a second focal position of the ellipse, wherein the eccentricity of the ellipse is set so that the curved surface has an effective detection area which satisfies the condition of total reflection at the interface with a gas and does not satisfy the condition of total reflection at the interface with a liquid.
