Abstract:
The present invention relates to a drunk driving prevention apparatus provided in a vehicle. The present invention provides a drunk driving prevention apparatus comprising: a carbon dioxide sensor which includes a sample gas inflow tube through which sample gas is introduced and a sample gas outflow tube through which the introduced sample gas is discharged and which generates an electrical signal according to the concentration of carbon dioxide included in the sample gas introduced through the sample gas inflow tube; a suction pump connected to a sample gas outlet of the carbon dioxide sensor and making the sample gas flow into the carbon dioxide sensor during operation; a vent pipe connected to an outlet of the suction pump; an alcohol sensor for generating an electrical signal according to the alcohol concentration of the sample gas flowing through the vent pipe; and a controller configured to control an ignition device of a vehicle by determining whether a driver is drunk according to the electrical signal of the alcohol sensor when the concentration of carbon dioxide according to the electrical signal of the carbon dioxide sensor is a predetermined value or more. The drunk driving prevention apparatus according to the present invention automatically operates the alcohol sensor when the driver gets in the vehicle and the concentration of carbon dioxide in the vehicle is the predetermined value or more. Therefore, whether a driver is drunk can be automatically checked without an inconvenient process of turning a breathalyzer on and directly blowing exhalation gas into the breathalyzer through a blow tube.
