Abstract:
A dryer appliance (10) with slide bearing assemblies (120) including wear defection features is provided, A slide bearing assembly (120) is mounted to a top bearing (102) for supporting a rotating drum (26),The slide bearing assembly (120) includes a contact circuit (122) including two electrical leads(130) positioned on the top bearing (102) of the dryer appliance (10). A slide bearing (124) is positioned over the contact circuit (122) for supporting the drum (26) during the rotation and maintaining an open circuit between the two electrical leads (130). A controller (84) monitors the resistance across the two electrical leads (130), determines that a failure of the slide bearing (124) has occurred when the resistance drops, and notifies the user accordingly.
