Abstract:

Disclosed is a novel dye which exhibits excellent conversion efficiency, excellent weather resistance and excellent heat resistance when used in a dye-sensitized solar cell. Also disclosed is a dye-sensitized solar cell using such a dye. The dye is represented by the following formula (1). ML¹L²X¹X² (1) (In the formula (1), M represents an element of groups 8-10 of the long form periodic table; L¹ and L² respectively represent a bidentate ligand composed of a specific bipyridine; and X¹ and X² respectively represent a monovalent atomic group or a monodentate ligand.
