Abstract:
A convenient examination method for IgA nephropathy without resort to kidney biopsy which is essentially required in the conventional methods. The examination method and the examination kit for IgA nephropathy have been developed based on a finding that the serum IgA1 of patients with IgA nephropathy shows an elevated avidity between IgA1 molecules, an elevated avidity to an antibody against the IgA1 hinge region or an increase in O-bond type sugar chains in the IgA1 hinge region, compared with the serum IgA1 of non-IgA nephropathy subjects involving healthy ones.
