Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing: an edible film having high water solubility, flexibility, strength, adherability, and transparency; and a use thereof. This edible film 1 has a layered structure having a water-insoluble coating layer 3 on one surface of a water-soluble substrate layer 2. The substrate layer 2 is a water-soluble layer containing an alginate salt as a main component. The substrate layer 2 has a thickness of 10-50 µm. The coating layer 3 is a water-insoluble layer containing shellac as the main component. The coating layer 3 has a thickness of 1-10 µm. The edible film 1 is useful as a partition for foods.
