This electric circuit breaking device comprises a housing that serves as an outer shell member and that encloses an accommodating space extending in one direction, an igniter, an emitted body which is emitted from one end side of the accommodating space by means of energy received from the igniter, and which moves in the extension direction of the accommodating space, and a conducting piece which forms a portion of an electric circuit and which is disposed in such a way as to cross the accommodating space, wherein, in the housing, a region of the accommodating space demarcated by an inner wall of the housing in which the conducting piece is held is defined as a holding region, and the emitted body includes: a rod portion which extends in the extension direction of the accommodating space and which is fitted by insertion into the holding region; and a resilient portion, which is a resilient member provided on an outer circumference of the rod portion facing the inner wall of the holding region after emission, comes into contact with the inner wall of the holding region when the emitted body is emitted, and is compressed between the inner wall of the holding region and the rod portion. After operation, the emitted body is prevented from returning to the igniter side, thereby suppressing a deterioration in an insulation resistance value.
