Abstract:
This electric motor includes a rotor having a rotating shaft, a commutator attached to the rotating shaft, a brush in contact with the commutator, and a brush spring including a constant force spring configured by a strip of wire and being for pressing the brush against the commutator, wherein: the brush spring is a constant force spring that includes a swirl part around which a strip of wire is wound; and the brush spring satisfies the relational expression of h1 > h2, where in the axial direction, h1 is the height of the swirl part from a reference position where a stationary part is in contact with a brush storage part before the brush wears and h2 is the height of the swirl part from the reference position where the stationary part is in contact with the brush storage part after the brush wears.
