Abstract:
The present invention achieves both the life extension of and the size reduction of an electric motor using an auxiliary brush. An electric motor (1) comprises a rotor (20) having a shaft (21) and a plurality of coils (22), a commutator (30) attached to the shaft (21), an energization brush (40), and an auxiliary brush (50). The plurality of coils (22) are electrically connected to the commutator (30). The commutator (30) has a plurality of commutator segments (31) including a first commutator segment and a second commutator segment along the circumferential direction of the shaft (21). The first commutator segment is adjacent to a commutator segment (31) making contact with the energization brush (40) and located in front of the commutator segment (31) in the rotation direction of the rotor (20). The second commutator segment is electrically connected to the first commutator segment via at least one of the plurality of coils (22). The auxiliary brush (50) makes contact with the second commutator segment.
