Abstract:
An electric power steering device (EPS)(1) has a rack actuator (23) for applying assisting
force to a rack shaft (5), a column actuator (24) for applying assisting force
to a column shaft (8), and an ECU (25) for supplying driving electric power to motors
(21, 22), which function as the drive sources for the actuators (23, 24), and controlling
operation of the actuators (23, 24). A permanent magnet motor (BLDC) is used
for the motor (21) of the rack actuator (23), and an induction motor (30), which
is a non-permanent magnet motor, is used for the motor (22) of the column actuator
(24).
