Abstract:
Provided is an electro-optic polymer including an electro-optical molecule in which a π electron donor and a π electron acceptor are conjugated via a π conjugate bridge, and a base polymer, wherein an electro-optical coefficient (EO coefficient) in the entire optical communication wavelength band (wavelength 1260 nm to 1625 nm) is 30 pm/V and a performance index (Figure of Merit (FOM)) defined by the following formula is 10 × 10-6 cm/dBV or more. Since the electro-optical polymer of the present invention is excellent in performance over the entire optical communication wavelength band, the polymer can be suitably used in an optical modulator, an optical switch, an optical transceiver, an optical phased array, a Light and Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), an electric field sensor, a terahertz generation-detection device or the like. [In the formula, n: refractive index, r: EO coefficient, a max: maximum value of absorption coefficient in the used wavelength band, λ: wavelength.]
