Abstract:
An electrochemical cell according to the present embodiment comprises: a flat-plate-shaped electrolytic cell having at least an electrolyte film, an oxygen electrode provided on one surface of said electrolyte film, and a hydrogen electrode provided on the other surface of the electrolyte film; a holding material having a lower degree of hardness than does the electrolytic cell, the holding material supporting at least a portion of the peripheral region of the electrolytic cell, and holding the electrolytic cell; and a separator for distributing oxidant gas supplied to the oxygen electrode and reducing agent gas supplied to the hydrogen electrode, the separator supporting the electrolytic cell with the holding material interposed therebetween, and being electrically connected to each of the oxygen electrode and the hydrogen electrode.
