A non-woven fabric ceramic separator, comprising a non-woven fabric, and a ceramic slurry prepared from ceramic particles, water, a dispersing agent, a wetting agent, a thickening agent and an adhesive. The non-woven fabric ceramic separator is prepared by applying the ceramic slurry onto the surface of the non-woven fabric, and then filling the ceramic slurry into pores of the non-woven fabric by means of cold pressing. By adding the cold pressing procedure after coating to fill ceramic particles into the pores of the non-woven fabric so as to prepare a lithium battery separator, the thermal shrinkage performance of the non-woven fabric ceramic separator is improved while air permeability is ensured, and the mechanical strength of the non-woven fabric ceramic separator is greatly improved. The problem of existing non-woven fabric separators having excessively low mechanical strength during use and being thereby easily damaged under the action of an external force and lithium dendrites, such that a positive electrode and a negative electrode of a lithium ion battery come into contact and cause a short circuit, thus initiating a series of safety accidents, such as an explosion and combustion, is solved.
