Abstract:
The present invention relates to an electrochemical device which includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator, and a lithium ion-conducting electrolyte. The positive electrode comprises a positive electrode current collector and a positive electrode mixture layer that is reversibly doped with an anion. The negative electrode comprises a negative electrode current collector and a negative electrode mixture layer that is reversibly doped with a lithium ion. The specific surface area of the negative electrode mixture layer is not less than 10 m2/g and not more than 70 m2/g. The negative electrode mixture layer contains a negative electrode active substance and a binder that binds the negative electrode active substance to the negative electrode current collector. The binder contains at least a first component and may contain a second component that is different from the first component. The first component is at least one type selected from the group consisting of carboxymethyl cellulose and a carboxymethyl cellulose salt. The ratio of the mass of the second component relative to the mass of the negative electrode mixture layer is not less than 0% and less than 1%. Due to this configuration, the float characteristics of the electrochemical device can be improved.
