Title:
ELECTRODE CATALYST LAYER FOR FUEL CELLS AND SOLID POLYMER FUEL CELL USING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2020/031479
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing an electrode catalyst layer for fuel cells which is capable of effectively preventing a cell voltage drop in a high-electric-current-density region. The electrode catalyst layer for fuel cells according to the present invention comprises: a catalyst support carrier comprising a catalyst being carried on a carrier including an electroconductive inorganic oxide; and a hydrophilic material. The hydrophilic material is an aggregate of hydrophilic particles having electrical conductivity. The hydrophilic material content in the catalyst layer is 2% by mass or more, but less than 20% by mass with respect to the total of the carrier and the hydrophilic material. The ratio of a particle diameter d1 of the hydrophilic particles to a particle diameter D of the catalyst support carrier is 0.5-3.0. The ratio of a particle diameter d2 of the hydrophilic material to a thickness T of the catalyst layer is 0.1-1.2.
