Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cathode electrode used as a catalyst when decomposing carbon dioxide and reducing same into a useful converted product, and an electrochemical cell comprising the electrode. According to the present invention, provided is a multi-layer electrode comprising: a reduction reaction layer in which reduction reaction for reducing a material occurs and which comprises a catalyst and pores through which ions can penetrate to the inside; and a reactant diffusion layer on which diffusion micropores for discharging products and transferring reactants to the catalyst are scattered disorderly. Therefore, chemical reaction on the electrode surface is maximized and carbon dioxide decomposition and the production efficiency of a product such as C2 or higher hydrocarbon can increase.
