Abstract:
The present invention includes: a step for manufacturing a metal sintered body (5) in which a metal powder is molded and sintered such that the metal sintered body (5) has an interior hole (51) in which an electrode bar (6a) can be inserted, a radial cross-section of the interior hole (51) being polygonal, and the metal sintered body (5) being made to contain an electron-emitting material; and a step for welding bead glass to the electrode bar (6a). Furthermore, the present invention includes a step for inserting the electrode bar (6a) into the interior hole (51) of the metal sintered body (5) and crimping and securing the metal sintered body (5) and the electrode bar (6a) such that at least a part of the corner sections (52) of the interior hole (51) remains between the metal sintered body (5) and the electrode bar (6a) as an air gap (53) passing through the metal sintered body (5) in the axial direction. A method for manufacturing an electrode for a flash discharge tube is thereby provided in which evaporation and scattering of the electron-emitting material from the metal sintered body are reduced during manufacturing of the flash discharge tube due to the high temperature of glass sealing.
