Abstract:
An anode (3) and a cathode (5) are arranged with a solid polymer membrane (7) between them. A DC current is passed between the anode (3) and the cathode (5) while supplying pure water through the supply port (13a) of an anode chamber (13) provided with the anode (3) and the supply port (15a) of a cathode chamber (15) provided with the cathode (5). Consequently, ozone water is discharged from the take-out port (13b) of the anode chamber (13). In such an electrolytic cell (1), a self-standing conductive diamond plate formed by microwave plasma CVD, having a thickness of 0.8 mm and provided with holes having diameter of 1 mm and spaced by a center-to-center distance of 2 mm is used as the anode (3). Since the anode (3) is not separated even if a high voltage/large current is applied between the anode (3) and the cathode (5), ozone can be generated stably.
