Abstract:
Disclosed are an electrolyte that can improve the lifespan of a lithium secondary battery by including a certain amount of magnesium chloride (MgCl2) in the electrolyte so as to form a stable electrode protective layer that prevents the exhaustion of salts and additives in the electrolyte, and a lithium secondary battery comprising same. The electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery comprises: a first solvent including a heterocyclic compound including at least one double bond and at the same time including any one of an oxygen atom and a sulfur atom; a second solvent including at least one of an ether-based compound, an ester-based compound, an amide-based compound, and a carbonate-based compound; a lithium salt; zirconium oxynitrate; and lithium nitrate.
