Abstract:

Provided is an electromagnetic contactor in which the overall configuration can be made more compact, even when a large current is switched. The electromagnetic contactor (10) is provided with a contact point device (100) and an electromagnet unit (200). In the contact point device (100), a C-shaped contact point is formed on a pair of stationary contacts (111), (112), and both ends of a movable contact (130) are arranged in the C-shaped contact point so that contact and separation are possible. The electromagnet unit (200) is provided with: a U-shaped magnetic yoke (201); an upper magnetic yoke (210) provided so as to bridge across the open part of the U-shaped magnetic yoke; a spool (204), around which an excitation coil (208) installed in the magnetic yoke is wound; a movable plunger (215) installed in the center of the spool (204) and connected to a movable contact (130); and an annular permanent magnet (220) arranged on the upper magnetic yoke (210) so as to surround the peripheral flange section on the distal end-side of the movable plunger (215).
