Abstract:
Provided is an electromagnetic switch whereby it is possible to easily detect whether a movable contact element is operating properly with respect to a pair of fixed contact elements. An electromagnetic switch comprises: a pair of fixed contact elements (6a, 6b) which are positioned in a contact housing case with a prescribed interstice maintained therebetween and interposed in a DC current path; a movable contact element (11) which is disposed to be capable of making contact with and separating from the pair of fixed contact elements; an electromagnet unit (3) which moves the movable contact element; movement state detection parts (32, 33) which detect the movement state of the movable contact element as a magnetic change; and a movement state determination part (34) which determines, on the basis of the result of the detection by the movement state detection means, whether the movement state of the movable contact element is normal.
