Abstract:
Disclosed is an electromagnetic wave resonator using a surface wave, to which is applied an electromagnetic wave resonator structure capable of being implemented with known and established technologies without excessive difficulty, and which resolves a variety of problems arising from the fact that only thermal excitation could be conventionally used by facilitating the application of voltages to a positive dielectric body region. A negative dielectric/positive dielectric/negative dielectric contact structure required by an electromagnetic wave resonator of the present type is disposed such that a positive dielectric thin film (3) that extends in the Y-axis direction and a coaxial structure of a negative dielectric (2) that is disposed therein, upon the obverse face of a negative dielectric (1), is interrupted in the axial direction. It is thus possible to apply voltage to the positive dielectric film (3), because the negative dielectrics (1, 2) that sandwich the positive dielectric thin film (3) on both sides thereof are electrically insulated. Additionally, the aspect ratio D/P1 of the region that is formed disposed within the negative dielectric (1) and houses the positive dielectric film (3) is on the order of 1.9, within fully achievable values.
