Abstract:
Provided is an electronic component: in which an external electrode includes a base layer and a metal layer; and which exhibits excellent adhesion between the base layer and the metal layer. This electronic component comprises a ceramic body and an external electrode provided on the surface of the ceramic body. The external electrode includes: a base layer which is in contact with the surface of the ceramic body; and a metal layer formed on the surface of the base layer. The base layer has pores that communicate between the base layer surface and the base layer boundary with the ceramic body. A portion of the metal layer extends to the boundary via the pores, and voids in the base layer constitute 1.5% by volume or less.
