An electronic control device for a hydraulic control type automatic transmission according to the present invention is an electronic control device (24) for a hydraulic control type automatic transmission (4) installed in a vehicle and equipped with an oil pressure sensor (34), said control device being equipped with a determination means (36) for detecting an output value from the oil pressure sensor (34) after the vehicle ignition has been turned off, and determining that the oil pressure sensor (34) is abnormal when the output value deviates from a standard output value of the oil pressure sensor (34) at zero oil pressure. Thus, it is possible to determine an abnormality of the functional property of the oil pressure sensor (34) provided in the hydraulic control type automatic transmission (4) installed in the vehicle by a simpler means.
