Abstract:
According to various embodiments, an electronic device comprises at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor can confirm, in an RRC_CONNECTED state, the expiration of a first timer having an expiration time shorter than that of an RRC inactivity timer set by means of a network, and confirm, on the basis of the expiration of the first timer, whether a UEAssistanceInformation message including a preferredRRC-State information element can be transmitted. The at least one processor can be configured to confirm whether the RRC inactivity timer, having been started simultaneously with the first timer, has expired if the UEAssistanceInformation message including the preferredRRC-State information element cannot be transmitted, and change the RRC state from the RRC_CONNECTED state to an RRC_INACTIVE state or an RRC_IDLE state,on the basis of the expiration of the RRC inactivity timer. If the UEAssistanceInformation message including the preferredRRC-State information element can be transmitted, the at least one processor can be configured to transmit, to the network, the UEAssistanceInformation message including the preferredRRC-State information element for causing the change from the RRC_CONNECTED state to the RRC_INACTIVE state or the RRC_IDLE state. Other various embodiments are possible.
