Abstract:
An electronic device is disclosed. The electronic device comprises: a display panel; a backlight unit composed of a plurality of backlight blocks including a first backlight block and a second backlight block; and a processor for controlling driving of the backlight unit on the basis of current information for driving each of the plurality of backlight blocks. The processor can identify, as a plurality of first virtual blocks, a first image region corresponding to the first backlight block in an input image, identify, as a plurality of second virtual blocks, a second image region corresponding to the second backlight block that is adjacent to the first backlight block, apply a diffusion filter to at least some values corresponding to the plurality of first virtual blocks to identify a diffusion value obtained by diffusion to at least some of the plurality of second virtual blocks, and acquire current information corresponding to the second backlight block, on the basis of values corresponding to at least some of the plurality of second virtual blocks, the values being acquired on the basis of the identified diffusion value.
