An electronic device comprises a processor that: saves, to a first area of memory, data of a re-writable first file or a read-only second file stored in storage; in response to a space-freeing event for the memory, identifies the type of the file corresponding to the data saved to the first area of the memory; deletes the first file data from the first area on the basis that the identified file is the re-writable first file; saves the second file data to a second area of the memory and deletes the second file data from the first area on the basis that the identified file is the read-only second file; restores the first file data to the first area in response to an access event for the first file data on the basis of the first file stored in the storage; and restores the second file data saved to the second area to the first area in response to an access event for the second file data.
