Abstract:
Provided are an electronic device and an image forming apparatus, in which a host side, which supplies a source of power, opens and closes the power supply to another connected device as needed, so that it is possible to prevent, for example, wasteful power consumption by the other device after the host side has transitioned to the power-saving mode. This invention is provided with a USB connector (80) for connecting to another device, and uses the USB connector (80) to send and receive data to and from the other device; and an FET (6) is provided between the USB connector (80) and a power source (V) for supplying power to the other device via the USB connector (80), the FET (6) being adapted to open and close the power supply.
