Various embodiments of the present invention relate to an electronic device and an operation method in the electronic device, wherein the electronic device may comprise: a battery; a processor module including at least one processor; at least one connection member electrically connected to the processor module and including at least two first conductive members; and at least one second conductive member set to be disposed on a portion of the surface of the battery. The second conductive member is set to be in contact with the at least two first conductive members when swelling occurs in the battery, and the at least two first conductive members can be electrically connected to each other by means of the contact with the second conductive member. The at least one processor can be set to receive a first signal through the at least one connection member by means of the at least two first conductive members contacting the second conductive member, and to identify a swelling state of the battery on the basis of the received first signal. Various embodiments are possible.
