Abstract:

The present document relates to an electronic device and method for outputting ambient sound. According to one embodiment, an electronic device comprises a plurality of microphones, a speaker, an audio module, and a processor electrically connected to the plurality of microphones, the speaker, and the audio module. The processor may be configured to: control the audio module to frequency-convert input signals for ambient sound input through the plurality of microphones and separate same into a plurality of frequency bands; control the audio module to obtain a gain value for each of the plurality of frequency bands on the basis of phase dispersion between channels for the plurality of frequency bands; control the audio module to filter a first frequency band signal having directionality on the basis of the gain value for each of the plurality of frequency bands; and control the speaker to output a processed output signal on the basis of the first frequency band signal. Other embodiments may also be possible.
