Abstract:
An electronic device according to various embodiments of the present disclosure, the electronic device supporting universal serial bus (USB) fast charging, may comprise a charger for charging a battery, a USB interface module, a memory in which an instruction for charging the battery is stored, and a processor. The USB interface module may detect a USB type when an external charger and an electronic device are connected, and may perform the battery charging (BC) 1.2 protocol. The processor may be operatively connected to the memory to control the charger, and the operations of the USB interface module. The processor may determine the USB type based on the result of performing the BC 1.2 protocol, perform fast charging when the USB type is a dedicated charging port (DCP), and perform fast charging even when the USB type is recognized as a charging downstream port (CDP) or a standard downstream port (SDP).
