Abstract:
An electrooptical material consists of a polymer (1) in which are dispersed drops (2) of a liquid ferroelectric material, in which the planes of smectic layers (4) are essentially parallel to each other. The material is obtained by a method in which, according to the invention, the orientation of molecules of the mixture of polymer with liquid crystal, namely ferroelectric liquid crystal, is effected in a flow.
