Abstract:
The present invention provides an electroporation device and an electroporation method that suppress electric field concentration. An electroporation device for introducing a bioactive substance into a biological material in a suspension containing a biological material and a bioactive substance. The electroporation device has an electrode pair in which electrodes having electrode surfaces are disposed with the electrode surfaces facing each other, a power supply part that applies a voltage to the electrode pair, and a shielding part having higher volume resistivity than the suspension. At least part of the shielding part is disposed in the flow path between the opposing electrode surfaces and disposed in a region where the distance from an end plane obtained by connecting an outer edge of the opposing electrode surfaces in a first direction orthogonal to either opposing electrode surface to a second direction parallel to an electrode surface orthogonal to the first direction is within 2 mm.
