Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide an electrostatic capacitance type proximity sensor having a novel construction, with which it is possible to detect proximity of a detection target more accurately by reducing noise in a sensor wire. An electrostatic capacitance type proximity sensor 10 for detecting proximity of a detection target A on the basis of an electrostatic capacitance between the detection target A and a sensor electrode 20 is provided with a ground electrode 24 which is disposed on the opposite side of the sensor electrode 20 to the detection target A and which is grounded, and a guard electrode 28 which is disposed between the sensor electrode 20 and the ground electrode 24, and which is at the same potential as the sensor electrode 20, wherein: a sensor wire 44 connecting a detecting device 42, disposed on the opposite side of the ground electrode 24 to the sensor electrode 20, to the sensor electrode 20 is inserted through a first wire insertion hole 46 penetrating through the ground electrode 24; and a distance D1 between the sensor wire 44 and the inner circumferential surface of the first wire insertion hole 46 is greater than an opposing-surface separation T2 between the ground electrode 24 and the guard electrode 28.
