Abstract:
Copolymer comprising a major amount of hydrophobic monomer such as acrylic ester, methacrylic acid ester, aromatic vinyl and vinyl cyanide, and a minor amount of hydrophilic monomer such as acrylic acid and methacrylic acid is stably dispersed in water without the aid of emulsifier. An electrostatically-recording medium is produced by the application of the aqueous dispersion of said copolymer on a supporting member having a low-resistance back surface to form an image-holding layer. This electrostatically-recording medium has advantages in which, upon its production, there is no need of using inflammable solvent and emulsifier and also, upon high-speed imaging process, high-quality images are provided even under high-humidity condition. Polyethyleneimine and polyepoxy compounds may be added to the aqueous dispersion to crosslink the copolymer, thus resulting in the improvement of recording characteristics. To be further effective in writing quality, polyacrylamide may be added.
