The present device easily attaches an elevator emergency stop device to a car without greatly protruding in the height direction from the car. In the elevator emergency stop device, an emergency stop support body (31) has: a support body main body (41) that is disposed within a vertical column groove (21) of a car frame (5); and an engagement section (42) that protrudes from the support body main body (41) and that snags the upper end of a vertical column (10). The emergency stop support body (31) is affixed to the vertical column (10) by means of a support body affixing device (32). The support body affixing device (32) has: a first affixing bolt (51) that stretches between the lateral surface of the vertical column groove (21) and the support body main body (41); and a second affixing bolt (52) that stretches between the engagement section (42) and a guide device attachment stand (13) affixed to the car frame (5). An actuating device (35) that displaces a brake member (62), causing an emergency stop device main body (33) to operate, is supported at an emergency stop attachment device (34) attached to the car frame (5).
